It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Richard Ross Ward, 58, of Springhill, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home. Born in Springhill, but raised in LaSalle, PQ, he was a son of Marilyn (Carrigan) Ward, Springhill and the late Frederick Ward.

Richard was a dedicated and certified chef, currently working at Marshlands Inn, Sackville. He had also worked at the CN Hotels throughout Canada. In his spare time, Richard was a passionate genealogist, having connected with people all over the world. He enjoyed traveling. He was a very caring person and a loving son, husband, and father.

In addition to his mother, he will be dearly missed by his wife, Amanda (nee Airey), Springhill; children, John (Jenny); Amherst, Robert, Springhill and Mary, Springhill; siblings, Frances Ward, Cathy (Dave O'Reilly) Ward, Linda (Steve McKay) Ward, all of Springhill, and Daniel (Rachael), Lr. Sackville, NS; his father-in-law, John Airey, Kendal, England; several nieces and nephews; two great nieces; several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Fred; a brother, Frederick "Vince" Ward; his mother-in-law, Joan Mary Airey and many aunts and uncles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, from the Funeral Home, with Father Keith Billard presiding. A reception will follow at the Funeral Home.

Donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association
