Lorna Ann Crowe, 81, of East
Mapleton, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born July 7, 1935 in Amherst,
Lorna was a daughter of the late Clifford and Helen (Bowser)
Travis.
Lorna was a member of the St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church,
Springhill, and a member of the East Mapleton-Leamington Sewing
Circle. She had been a Sunday School teacher and a very active member
of the former Mapleton United Church and a leader with the Ro-Win-Lea
4-H Club.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and cooking for both
her family and her community, and especially enjoyed the many family
gatherings.
Lorna was a graduate of Amherst Regional High School and St.
Charles Commercial School. She was employed as a stenographer for
Burns Adjustment Agency for many years before moving to East Mapleton.
She was the chief support person for many decades during the family
blueberry harvest with Brookland Products and played an active part in
the family maple production business as a partner in Mapleton
Enterprises.
Her main focus was her family, especially her husband of
fifty-five years and her five grandchildren who were her pride and joy
and will miss her very dearly.
Lorna will be sadly missed by her husband, Keith, East
Mapleton; her children, Lyndon (Cathy), East Mapleton, Aaron (Randy),
Ottawa and Andrea Crowe, Ottawa; five grandchildren, Cassie, Alex,
Mathew, Simbi, and Tesi; one brother, Weldon (Nancy), East Amherst;
two sisters, Carolyn (Arthur) Phinney, Paradise, and Ruth (Robin)
Phillips, Valley; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Travis, Saint John, NB and
many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter,
Lorraine; a brother, Rod; a sister Eleanor; a sister-in-law, Betty
(Alfred), and a brother-in-law, Garth (Ruth).
Arrangements
are under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a time of
visitation will be held 7-9 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 and on
Friday from 12:30 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Interment
to follow in the Mapleton Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Lorna may be made to the St.
Andrew's-Wesley United Church, The Southampton United Church, The
Mapleton Cemetery, or a charity of the donor's choice.
