Etta Arvilla
Maddison, 94, of Springhill, and formerly of Oxford,
NS, passed away peacefully at the High Crest Nursing home on Thursday,
July 21, 2016. Born In Oxford, Etta was a daughter of the
late C. Clayton and Bessie (Mattinson) Knight.
Etta worked in Jack's Shoe Repair with
her husband for many years and was known throughout the
county.
She led a very active social life and
loved to entertain as well as participate in a good game of Auction
45's.
Etta had been Akela for the local Cub
Scouts for close to thirty years. She belonged to the
Pythian Sisters, Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Springhill.
She was closely connected to her
community and was able to share it's history with her many friends and
family.
Etta will be sadly missed by three
daughters, Marian (Bill) Herrett, Quesnel, BC, Bessie (Wallace)
Lowther, Springhill, and Nola Russell, Lower Truro; one son, John
"Bill" Maddison, Medicine Hat, AB; eight grandchildren; six
great grandchildren; one brother, John Knight, Pictou, and many nieces
and nephews.
Besides her parents, Etta was
predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Maddison; sons,
Charles and Harold; an infant daughter, Jean; three grandchildren; one
brother, and two sisters.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a time of
visitation will be held 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. A
funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 2
pm. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery,
Springhill. Major Max Snow
officiating.
Donations in memory of Etta may be made
to the High Crest Nursing Home or a charity of the donor's
choice.
Etta's family wishes to extend heartfelt

High Crest Nursing Home for their care and support.
