With his family present,
Roland Paul Dulong, 57, of Springhill,
was called to be with his Lord and Saviour, suddenly and unexpectedly
on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Halifax. Born in Quinan, NS,
Roland was a son of the late Albert and Alma (Doucet)
Dulong.
Roland was happy when teaching and had
taught social studies and Extended French for the Chignecto-Central
Regional School Board for over thirty years. He had received
a provincial teaching award for Excellence in Teaching In Social
Studies.
Roland was a proud Acadien and dedicated
genealogist. He was a lover of animals, as well as an avid
photographer, gardener, creator of videos, and devoted fan of the
Montreal Canadiens. Most recently, he was a self-taught and
skilled woodworker.
Roland loved to laugh and was known for
his sense of humour.
His philosophy was that as long as you
had family, you had everything.
He will be dearly missed by his wife,
Vicky (nee MacMaster), of Springhill, with whom he looked forward to
celebrating their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary this August; much
beloved daughter, Sophie-Elise, of Springhill; four brothers, Emile
(Ginette), Raymond (Linda), Edmond (Joan), and Lionel (Diane); four
sisters, Marie-Louise (Brian) Bourque, Prescille (Armand) Bourque,
Jeanne (Johnny) Boudreau, and Angele (John) Andrews, as well as
twenty-three nieces and nephews.
Roland was predeceased by his
parents.
Arrangements are under the care of
A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a time of visitation will
be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Parish
prayers will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 pm A
funeral service will be held from St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic
Church, Springhill on Monday at 1 pm, with interment to follow in the
parish cemetery. Father Keith Billard presiding.
Donations in memory of Roland may be
made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Springhill) or the LA Animal
Shelter.
