It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Earl "Tom" Corkin on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at All Saints Hospital, Springhill, with his family by his side.  

Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Thomas Corkin and Evelyn (Austin) Corkin Ferguson.

Tom started out in Sales for Surrette Battery, Sears Canada and Superior Fire Protection Services.  He developed his love of firefighting as a volunteer at the Springhill Fire Department, then went on to be a professional Firefighter as Chief at Bowater Mersey Paper Co.  In 2008 he and his wife retired to Springhill where he returned to the Springhill Fire Department.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, the former Joanne Chapman; his children, Angela (Steven) Romain, Hammonds Plains and Andrew (Karen) Corkin of Chester Basin; grandchildren, Connor and Austin Romain, Aidan and Chloe Corkin; sister, Patricia Rushton, Rodney; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Thomas Corkin, mother Evelyn Corkin Ferguson, step-father William Ferguson and brother-in-law Caleb Rushton.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will take place on Friday, July 15, 2016 from Noon until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm by the funeral service, Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating.
