Donald Clayton Smith, 68, of
Springhill, passed away suddenly at the Cumberland Regional Health
Care Centre on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Born in Springhill, Donald was a
son of late Clayton Smith and Donna Foster.
He had been a meat cutter for twenty five years,
known throughout the county as "The Meat Man". Following
that, he dedicated more than twenty years to the Springhill
Correctional Institution as a Carpentry Instructor.
An avid outdoors man, Donald loved hunting, fishing,
four-wheeling, and spending time at the camp. He looked forward to
good times with his friends and beloved family.
Donald leaves behind his wife of fourty-nine years, Theresa
(nee MacDonald), Springhill; his mother, Donna Foster, Springhill; one
daughter, Wanda (Max) Dutton, Moncton; one son, Randy (Lindsay) Smith,
Springhill; three grandchildren, Morgan, Spencer, and Avery; two great
grandchildren, Hunter and Jackson; one sister, Bonnie (Dougie)
Lockhart, and two nephews, Troy and Darren.
He was predeceased by his father.
Arrangements are under the supervision and care of
A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Honouring Donald's wishes, there
will be no funeral service. An afternoon of remembrance will be held
from the funeral home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2-4
pm.
Donations in Donald's memory may be made to the LA Animal
Shelter.
