Surrounded by his loving family, James Allen Reid, 76, of Springhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 8, 2016, at All Saint's Hospital. Jim was a son of the late Allen and Julia (Adams) Reid.

Jim had spent many years with Stedmans Retail Stores as owner and management throughout Canada. Upon retirement he pursued his love of cabinet work. Jim was self-taught, and through dedication and hard work became an accomplished woodworker. His love of woodworking did not end with him as he showed great pride in being able to pass on his skill to his son, James. He enjoyed country music and westerns.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty (Tait)(Snell), Springhill; a son, James (Patty), of Debert, NS; a daughter, Sonyia (Gary) McNutt, Lantz, NS; a step-son, Jim (Lynn) Snell, of Springhill, and a step-daughter, Kelly (Pete) Misken, of Lynn Mountain, NS; five grandchildren, Josh, Miranda, Jacy, Celsea, and Brett; three step-grandchildren, Katie, Jody, and Molly; sisters, Sharon Wood, and Janette Farnell, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his furry friend, Dusty.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in infancy Murray Emerson; a brother-in-law and good friend, Lorne Wood, and an uncle Albert Adams.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). There will be a time of visitation on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 2-3pm with a Celebration of Jim's life to follow at 3 pm. Interment will be held in the Mapleton Cemetery following the reception.

Jim's family would like to thank all of the health care providers who have traveled this journey with him.

Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of The All Saint's Hospital, Springhill, or a charity of the donor's choice.
