We the family announce the passing of
Kathleen (Kay) Miller Arseneault, 91, of
Springhill, NS, at the High-Crest Nursing Home on Thursday, May 5,
2016, surrounded by family.
Kay, who was friendly, kind, caring and
loving was born in Springhill on 4 May 1925. She was the youngest
daughter of the Late James and Claudina (Miller)
MacKenzie.
Her siblings, best friends and constant
companions were Ruth (Wark) and Evelyn (Boss) and together the three
women later became known in town as "The Golden
Girls". She married coal miner and
"Fencebuster" baseball pitcher the Late John (Jack)
Arseneault 30 Oct 1943. Kay was a member of the Springhill
Baptist Church and Willing Workers; The Loyal True Blue Association
and for 20 years was President of the Residents Club at the 20
Junction Road Seniors where she enjoyed organizing pot luck dinners,
card parties, and sing songs for the residents. Her favourite games
were Auction 45s, Canasta and Bingo. During WW II she worked in
Amherst on airplanes. Raising four boys, sports were important to her
as she could be seen at her husband's, sons' and
grandsons'mom games cheering them on. She loved to travel
and visited her sons and families wherever they lived including
Germany, Montreal, Toronto and Florida.
Kay is survived by sons Jack (Dianne),
Ottawa, ON; Bob (June), Springhill; Ron (Margaret),
Springhill; sister Evelyn Boss; 12 Grandchildren; 19
Great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
She was pre-decreased by her parents,
husband John M. Arseneault (1988), son Kenneth Wayne Arseneault
(2001), and sister Ruth Wark (2016).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
into the care and guidance of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill, (902-597-2361) from where visitation will be held
Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will
be held Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2 pm from the funeral home with Pastor
Paul Berry officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. A
celebration of life reception will be held at the funeral home
following interment.
The family would like to say a special
thanks to the nurses and staff at the Springhill High-Crest Nursing
Home for the outstanding love and care they so abundantly showered on
Kay for two years. Although she recently passed, the family are
grateful to Muriel Rector for being a wonderful caring roommate and
adopted family member to Kay.

Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
