It is with great sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of Ruth Roland Wark, 95, of Springhill, NS, on Sunday, April 10, 2016, surrounded by her family at All Saints Hospital. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late James and Claudina (Miller) MacKenzie.

Ruth was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and Willing Workers; The Loyal True Blue Association and Pythian Star Temple #8, Pythian Sisters. She was a member of the Women's Army Corps (WAC), stationed in Ottawa from 1940-1944. She then worked as a secretary at Carter's Garage, where she met her husband-to-be, Bill. She enjoyed card parties and a good game of Auction 45's as well as her Thursday meeting at Tim Horton's.

She will be sadly missed by daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Beaton, Dumfries, NB, Anne-Marie (Edward) Casey, Eastern Passage; sons, James, Springhill, Michael (Pamela), Coldbrook, Kings Co. and Ralph (Cathy), Mapleton; a son-in-law, Burton Smith, Rodney; sisters, Evelyn Boss and Kathleen Arseneault, both of Springhill, together with Ruth, they were affectionately known in town as the Golden Girls; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William Havelock Wark, and a daughter, Margaret Smith.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into the care and guidance of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902-597-2361) from where visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm . A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am from the funeral home with Pastor Paul Berry officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the Paramedics; Emergency at CRHCC; 7.2 IMCU Staff and 8.3 Staff, Halifax and Palliative Care All Saints Hospital, Springhill.
