It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Carson Malcolm Smith, 73, of Springhill
at All Saints Hospital. Carson passed away on Sunday,
January 17, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in
Springhill on April 3, 1942, he was a son of the late Clifford and
Francis (Henwood) Smith.
Carson had worked on
highway construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years as
well as having worked in the woods. He loved music and
playing his guitar. He was well known for his passion for
participating in benefit concerts for local charities. He
loved his sugar woods.
He was a devoted and
hard working husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spend time
with his family.
Carson will be sadly missed by
his loving wife of fifty-two years, Bonnie (Canning); daughters, Pam
(Cecil) Milton, Roberta Smith, Kelly Smith and Diane (Earl) Beaton,
all of Springhill; grandchildren, Travis (Mary Kay), Shelby, Dustin,
and Brianna; brothers, Wally (Marion), Springhill, Weldon (Brenda),
Southampton, Allan (Angie), Invermere, BC, and Layton (Louise),
Quesnel, BC; sisters, Dolores (Brian) Adams, Cole Harbour, Annie
(Gary) Sterling, Springhill, Irene (Gary) Albertson, Springhill,
Connie (Alan) Pipes, Amherst, Fran (Glen) Whitman, Beaumont, AB, and
Nancy (Murray) Whitewood, Sundrie, AB; a sister-in-law, Louise
(George) Linden, Ottawa, an uncle, George Henwood, Harvey, NB, as well
as several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his special Aunt and
Uncle, Elizabeth and James Spence; his stepmother, Mary Smith;
brother, Jim Spence; sister Darlene Noiles; sister-in-law, Charlene
Smith, and brother-in-law, Doug Noiles.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). A time of visitation will
be held from the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, January 19,
2016. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home
at 2 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Marion LLoy
officiating. Interment will take place in the Leamington
Cemetery in the Spring.
The family would like
to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Morzycki, Cindy Oickle, Dr.
Fashoranti, the VON and the nursing staff of All Saint's Hospital
Palliative Care for their kindness and support.
