It is with sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen "Kay" Doris MacDonald, age 94 of Springhill.  Kay passed away surrounded by loving family at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, August 21, 2015. 

Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Ruby (McCarthy) O'Rourke.

Kay was a founding member of the Kidney Foundation in Springhill, and remained active up until her passing.  She worked 28 years with Nova Scotia Light and Power.  Kay was a member of the Lady Minto Rebekah Lodge # 23, Springhill, the Pythian Sisters, and was very active around town, participating in every social activity she could.  She enjoyed playing cards and time with friends, especially Dot and Helen.

She will be sadly missed by her son Dan (Eleanor), Springhill; grandsons Tim (Cindy), Mapleton and Andrew (Susan), Valley Road, NS; great grandchildren; Sonya, Nick, Moya, Connor, Nick and Brendan; sister Donna Foster, Springhill.

She was predeceased by her husband John "Jack"; brother Robert; and special friend Jerry Wood.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.  The funeral service will take place at A H Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11 am, Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
