It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of Donald Alexander "Tuffy"
Burton, 92 years, of Springhill, on Tuesday, August 18,
2015 at his residence.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the
late Charles Herbert and Georgina (DeVine)
Burton.
Tuffy served in the R.C.L. Regiment of
the Royal Canadian Army for 3 and a half years overseas in the United
Kingdom and Italy. After the war he worked in the Springhill
Mines for 10 years, then as a Boiler Operator in Medford
Mass. Following his retirement, he returned to
Springhill. He was an adherant to St. David's Presbyterian
Church, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17.
Tuffy will always be remembered for his warm smile, wonderful sense of
humor and love of baseball.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter,
Susan Messina of Melrose, MA; son in law, Robert Trabucco, Somerville,
MA; grandchildren, Jason, Andrea and Jessica; great grandchildren,
Luciana, Lucas, and Nolan; sisters, Evelyn Pyke, Springhill, Eileen
Henwood, Amherst; brothers, Herbert of Port Elgin, ON, Patrick of
Saint John, NB; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his wife, the former Verlie Arlene Hayden; a daughter,
Deborah Trabucco; sisters Vivian Adams, Joyce Burton, Leona Aniol and
Margaret Cox; brothers, Clayton, Dennis and John
Edward.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H
Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361)
where visiting hours will take place on Friday from 6 to 8
pm. The funeral will take place at A H Brown Funeral Home on
Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11 am, Major Max Snow
officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery,
Springhill.
A Legion Memorial Service will be held
from the A H Brown Funeral Home, Friday evening, August 21, 2015
beginning at 6:00 pm.
