It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Frank R. Hunter, age 85, of Springhill.  Frank passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, August 7, 2015 surrounded by loving family.

Born in Springhill, NS, he was a son of the late Martin and Kathleen (Blenkhorn) Hunter.

Frank was a miner in the Springhill Mines, served in the Canadian Army for 6 years, before returning to Springhill to work at Surrette's Battery Company.  He will be remembered for his devotion to family and for his leisurely walks around Springhill.

He will be sadly missed by son, Kenneth (Darlene Gould), Springhill; daughters, Marie (Russell) Oickle, Oxford and Pat (Scott) Purcell, Scarborough, ME; 9 grandchildren, Lisa, Jamie, Bonnie, Terry, Russell, Kenneth, Lonnie, Chris, and Michelle; 19 great grandchildren; niece Beverly Harris, Souris, PE.

He was predeceased by his wife Norma Beaton; son Norman "Nipper"; great grandson Coleman; brother Harold; niece Barbara.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm.  The funeral will take place at A H Brown Funeral Home on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 2 pm.  Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.

As Frank was a Cancer Survivor, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
